For years I watched MeasureSummit from afar. It is the biggest online measurement event in the industry, led by Julian Juenemann and Chris Mercer, two people I learned a huge amount from, with speakers like Simo Ahava and Julius Fedorovicius. The kind of lineup you study, not the kind you expect to join.

In 2023 I broke myself in: I applied for second stage, got the spot, and taught Microsoft Clarity. Then I did the thing that actually changed everything. I wrote a rap about the speakers. Mercer and Julian played it over and over on the live broadcast, and a quiet, unknown Josh Silverbauer suddenly had the whole industry asking who the singing analytics guy was. I count that song and Universal Sunset as the first two things that really defined me in this industry.

The next year I was invited to the front stage, a lineup of just twelve of the top analytics people in the world. A huge honor, and of course it also meant writing another song. And since last year I have been the host: co-hosting the live broadcast with Jeff Sauer, with scheduled “Josh Music” segments baked right into the official run-of-show. When your musical interludes make the production grid, that is when you know it is real.
