MeasureCamp & The Parodies

Multi-time host of the analytics unconference, and co-creator of its unauthorized sequels.

MeasureCamp is the analytics world’s beloved unconference: free, community-run, schedule-built-on-the-day. I’ve hosted MeasureCamp Chicago and MeasureCamp New York multiple times, which mostly means keeping brilliant nerds on schedule while having entirely too much fun doing it. Last year that meant running a Family Feud style showdown at MeasureCamp Chicago; this year in New York I hosted the camp and kept the after-festivities running too.

And because no institution I love is safe from me: with Jason Packer, I co-created Meazurecamp (the MeasureCamp parody) and Reasonably Ok Week (a loving parody of Superweek). The analytics industry has a proud tradition of taking its work seriously and itself not at all. We’re just doing our part. The bit has since escalated into a full website, which is covered below with the seriousness it deserves.

About MeasureCamp

The Skits & Parodies

Straight faced nonsense about serious tools. Enjoy them responsibly.

Live From The Camps

Family Feud, cocktail naming contests, and one structurally concerning elevator.

Analytics Family Feud at MeasureCamp Chicago. Survey says: chaos.
The winning family, probably.
The WHERE Gin IS NOT NULL naming contest, taken extremely seriously.
Elevator capacity: exceeded. Vibes: also exceeded.
The campers.

The Nonconference

Meazurecamp got a website. Nobody could stop us, and several people tried by saying please.

The parody now lives at meazurecamp.org, home of the world’s bestest analytics nonconference. Motto: knowledge through community through knowledge again. The 2026 season features four events: Middle Earth, Isle Royale, The Multiverse, and Low Earth Orbit. Bizarro Jim Sterne calls it “a killer idea! YAY!” The real Peter O’Neill has, at press time, not sued.

DISPATCH: MEAƨURECAMP MIDDLE EARTH

“Jim Sterne kicked it off with How to Prompt A.Eye. of Sauron. Jason Packer debuted his book Mordor Alternatives: A Comprehensive Guide, Vol 2. I taught a small class on why a good tracking architecture is the most precious thing around. Only one student showed up, but that’s ok.”

DISPATCH: MEAƨURECAMP MULTIVERSE

“Alternative-Universe Tim Wilson astonished his fanbase with a 370 hour rant on how pie charts are the only charts that should be used. The Great Tag Magician taught Cookie the Alien how to adapt to a cookieless world without sliding into deep depression. Alternative-Universe Peter O’Neill explained why he’d never sue us.”
