Take a Quick Look at CorpNet
CorpNet helps entrepreneurs start, run, and stay compliant with their businesses — formations, filings, and registered agent services across all fifty states. It’s a high-volume lead business where the journey from first ad click to signed-up customer can stretch across weeks and devices, and where the sales team lives in Salesforce.
The Challenge: Attribution That Dies in the Browser
Out of the box, campaign data is fragile — it lives in a URL for one pageview and then it’s gone. CorpNet needed to know, durably and on every lead record, what actually brought each person in: the first campaign that introduced them, the last one that closed them, and the exact ad click behind the conversion. Then the stakes went up: CorpNet launched an affiliate program, which means partners get paid based on this data. Attribution stopped being a reporting question and became a money question.
The Build: A First-Party Attribution Layer
- Durable first-party capture: a custom tracking layer (deployed via Google Tag Manager) stores first-touch and last-touch campaign data — UTMs, referrer, landing page, device — as first-party cookies on CorpNet’s own domain, with year-long persistence.
- A smarter first touch: if someone’s first visit is untagged “direct,” that first touch is treated as provisional — and upgrades when a real campaign arrives later. No more direct traffic permanently poisoning first-touch reports.
- Every click ID, captured: Google, Meta, Microsoft, and TikTok click identifiers, plus GA4 client and session IDs, ride along on every lead.
- Straight into Salesforce: all of it flows through hidden form fields into the Lead record automatically — so sales and marketing see the same origin story for every lead, without anyone typing anything.
- Affiliate-ready from day one: for the affiliate launch on Impact, partner and click IDs are captured through both Impact’s native parameters and CorpNet’s UTM conventions, with last-affiliate-wins logic deliberately matched to how commissions pay out — and the edge cases (who gets credit when two affiliates touch the same lead?) surfaced to the client as explicit business decisions rather than silent code choices.
- The road ahead: server-side conversion postbacks to Impact keyed on the captured click ID — the same closed-loop pattern already feeding their ad platforms.
The Result
Every lead in Salesforce carries its complete marketing origin — first touch, last touch, and the exact click that converted — and the affiliate program launched measurable (and payable) from day one.
